Dr. Joaquin Loustaunau memorial graduate scholarship fund

Joaquin O. Loustaunau, a member of the mathematics department faculty from 1965 to 1997, passed away in Las Cruces on March 4, 2002.  Joaquin was a graduate of University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His dissertation, "On the State Diagram of Linear Operators and its Adjoint in Locally Convex Sets," was directed by advisors Visvanatha Krishnamurthy and Robert Gardner Bartle. Joaquin was the adviser for three Ph.D. students at NMSU: Donald Horner, Conrad McKnight, and Benedict Nmah.

The
Dr. Joaquin Loustaunau memorial graduate scholarship fund has been established to aid graduate students who have a commitment to a career in mathematics or genetics.  Funds contributed to this scholarship will help support our talented but needy graduate students and serve to honor Dr. Loustaunau's memory and his many contributions to his field, his students, and to NMSU.
